IMMIGRANTS: BENEFICIAL OR BURDENING?

BY: CAROLINA CHEN, 4ESO-D

"Those people are opening way too much business." "Be careful of those people, they are all a bunch of thieves." "Go back to your country!" I believe more than one of these phrases sound familiar to you, or even more than what I've just pointed out.
Even though there are less cases of racism, discriminatory actions are still occurRing in our society. They might not be daily, but if you ask any random immigrant, most have suffered from a discriminatory insult or mock. Also, a significant amount of Spaniards (or people from any other country, I'm just stating by experience) believe that immigrants (from what I've heard, mostly Chinese) are stealing their jobs and robbing their money, which in any perspective is not true. Immigrants are just doing the jobs Spaniards do not want, for example in the country collecting olives. As for the other, we (I represent the Chinese Community) bring our own money here to open our business, and we offer jobs. Another rumour is that, once we gain the money, we send it all to our country. That is partially true. But, do we not eat in Spanish bars? Do we not buy clothes at Zara, for example? The capital is constantly running, no exception in our case. Also, I think that the most ridiculous rumour is that we do not pay taxes. Ha! Big fat lie, no doubt. Our business does pay taxes just like any other Spanish bar or shop. Who started this rumour is just jealous of our achievements.
As this clearly shows, immigrants are not always perjudicial to a country's economy. Multiculturalism is also a sign of prosperity, power and richness, all giving a positive image of a country.

GENERAL STRIKE

BY: LUCÍA AMORÓS, 4ESO-D

A general strike is a strike that affects all work activities.
The general strike is called by the union movement and addressed to all workers.
The invitation and participation in the general strike can address only the working class or be broader and affect other sectors and social organizations as students, unemployed, retired. They can receive support from non-traditional sectors of the labor movement when the demand affectS all the social whole.
The last general strike held in our country was held on March 29, 2011. Later, it was celebrated a strike in protest against the labor reform of 2012 promoted by the government of the ''Partido popular'' directed by Mariano Rajoy.
According to data offered by the media, a lot of people weren't to their jobs that day.
There are disadvantages such as violence because of different opinions.
I think there are advantages because many times the strike comes to fulfilling its purpose.

ENVIRONMENT

BY: VICTORIA MELGAREJO, 4ESO-D

Nowadays, people are very conscious of the problems with the environment in the world, because the pollution has increased a lot in the last years and the worst part is that it has got worse because of our thoughtless actions and this is a worldwide problem.
But now, most of the people struggle to improve that, for example recycling is a good and easy way to help, or walking/ biking instead of driving the car which is also healthy for the people, using eco-friendly products, etc.
However, THERE ARE still some people who don’t do anything at all, just make it worse, such as some companies which drop toxic substances to rivers and oceans.
All in all, I think we should leave the world better than we found it to give the same opportunities to our kids in the future.

LIFE IN THE COUNTRY, IS IT GOOD OR BAD?

BY: BEATRIZ MATA, 4ESO-D
Life in the country is  good for its clean air, or on the contrary it is bad for hard work in the field.
Life in the field has many advantages such as little car traffic, its clean air, tranquility, your neighboUrs are far away, not noisy and you can do whatever you want without anyone saying anything, and finally good health for the little pollution.
On the other hand, it also has disadvantages such as loneliness, your neighboUrs are far away, that silence can be uncomfortable, not police, not health center nearby, everything is far away from your house, working MUCH in jobs and paid little.
In conclusion, I think the country life is good for the tranquility and little pollution and life is good, but there are also disadvantages.

POVERTY

BY: ESTRELLA GLEZ. SAN NARCISO, 4ESO-D

Unfortunately, nowadays there are a lot of people who live in povertry in the world despiste all the help that rich countries send to poor places.
More than one thousand million people live with less than one euro each day. At the moment, the tables have turned and the situation is a bit better. However, many people starve each day.
Due to the fact that there is a failurE in the distribution of the wealth, 86% of the population is poor.
Plus wars, illness such as AIDS, not enough food supplies, low standaRds of living, high external debts, dreadful nutrition and education, lack of drinking water, decent houses and a good public health, AND the inexistence of basic hygiene make poor places horrible placeS to live in.
In my opinion, people who call the shots should go back to square one and make a good plan to solve this problem. SOME of the poorest countries in the world are Zambia, Gaza and Zimbawe.

SMOKE: IS IT AS BAD AS THEY SAY?

BY: EUGENIA GUARDIA, 4ESO-D

Some of the reasonS why young people smoke are for example: first, to experience new things (it can be when you accept a cigarette from a classmate and then you smoke it on the sly); second, to relieve stress and to be like other people. The boys in the classroom say “what a stress. I need a cigarette," and exclaimed when it is finished “Now I can put up with whatever”; third, to lose weight.  Some young smokers, in order not to gain weight, say “It is much easier than dieting”. Scientists have found that smoking does not reduce stress, but the nicotine increases the nevel of stress hormones. When you exhale, all the cigarette smoke does not leave the body and remains in the lungs. Effects OF tobacco are not seen until years later, but there are effects that are inmediate. The capacity lung is reduced and also persistent cought. Like this, THEY appear more wrinkles, and other signs of premature ageing are secondary effects of smoking. The risk increaseS to suffer sexual dIsfunction and panic attacks TOO.
According to this, I think that there are negative things ,  and there are not ANYTHING POSITIVE. To sump up ,  if you smoke, you will die before a HEALTHIER person.

ABORTION FROM 16

BY: SOL NEREA PACHECO, 4ESO-D

There are many motives of abortion: the abortion in which you have had a carelessness and don't want to have the baby, the abortion for the fact of a rape, the abortion in which the baby has any disability ,  etc. In all these cases, who decides it they are the parents, but especially the mother. The excuse of the parents who decide it is to save sufferings, as being left, etc. But, actually it is because they still don't feel prepared to be parents, because they don't want to have any responsibility, because they want neither to lose their freedom, nor to ruin their life for a carelessness. Though initially parents see ABORTION WELL, it can ALSO be very harmful to them as causing traumas or depression. All that because of a carelessness.
But, if from 16 years old the teenagers already have obligations, rights and a certain independence,  for example, they can drive A moped, why might not they abort? For it and for many reasons more, the government has decided that teenagers should have a certain autonomy giving them the right to abort from this age.
In my opinion, aborting is to kill a life. This way, it seems to me something totally disgusting and immature on the part of all teenagers , but the worst thing of everything is that nowadays the majority of the citizens approve that the abortion is carried out.
